Volunteers for Literacy

Many fulfilling opportunities exist for volunteers to help in the various literacy programs that work with children, adults and/or families in Sonoma County. The volunteer is often able to choose the day, time, and in some cases, the geographic area that is most convenient to their home or work  . The weekly commitment can range from one to six hours per week.

The requirements to become a volunteer are as follows:

• Complete an application and participate in the orientation process;
• Maintain a negative TB test on file (if over the age of 18); and
• Submit to fingerprinting (if required and if over the age of 18).

Program-appropriate training is available for every volunteer and each agency will provide the necessary details for fulfilling their requirements.
